What actually makes a hotel front desk agent resume strong

Name the PMS system you have used, exactly

Opera, OnQ, FOSSE and Cloudbeds are not interchangeable to a hiring manager who has to plan your training. If you have run a specific property management system, name it directly rather than writing "hotel software," since a property running the same PMS wants someone who needs little to no ramp-up time.

Quantify volume and guest experience scores, not just "friendly service"

How many guests you check in on a typical shift, the size and occupancy level of the property, and any guest satisfaction survey score you personally moved are the details that tell a hiring manager what your day actually looks like. "Provided excellent customer service" could describe almost anyone; a specific number describes you.

List your AHLEI credentials with the issuing body and year

Certified Guest Service Professional, Certified Front Desk Representative, and further along, Certified Rooms Division Manager, are recognized industry credentials from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. List them the same way you would a license, with the issuing body and date, so a hiring manager scanning quickly can confirm you have them.

A stretch at a seasonal or now-closed property is common, do not leave it off

Hotels change brands, close for renovation, or operate seasonally in resort and ski markets, and hiring managers in this field see it constantly. List the property, your dates and what you actually did there rather than leaving a gap. A missing stretch of time raises more questions than a seasonal role ever would.

Questions people ask

How long should a front desk resume be?add

One page for a front desk agent or anyone with under about five years of front office experience. Two pages becomes reasonable once you are supervising a team, managing a front office budget, or have led a system rollout or major property transition worth describing in real detail.

Should I list night audit experience even if it was only part of my role?add

Yes. Night audit is often treated as its own skill set, since it involves closing out the day’s transactions and running reports with far less supervision on shift. Even occasional night audit coverage is worth a line, since it signals you can be trusted to run the desk independently.

I have worked at hotels under a few different brands. Does that matter?add

Different brands, such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG or an independent property, each run their own systems and standards, and moving between them is common and not a concern on its own. What matters more is naming the PMS each property used and what you were responsible for; a hiring manager reads brand variety as broader experience, not instability.
