ResumeFox is built by TopStack Resume, a career-services firm founded in 2018 and staffed entirely in the United States. For years the work was done the slow way: a client talked to a writer, the writer asked the questions the resume didn't answer, and the resume came back rewritten.
That's still the best way to do it. It is also expensive, and most people looking for a job can't spend several hundred dollars finding out whether their resume is the problem. ResumeFox is the attempt to hand the same standards to everyone else.
Figures are TopStack Resume's. ResumeFox is new and has no review history of its own yet — when it does, we'll show it alongside these rather than quietly replacing the attribution.
The rules we built it under
Most of what makes this product different is a list of things it refuses to do. They're not features and they don't demo well, but they're the reason we can stand behind what comes out of it.
We never tell you that you lack something.
A resume is a lossy record — people leave real credentials off it all the time. So we say what we can and can't see on your page and what to do about it. Telling someone they'd be screened out of a job they'd actually have got is the one failure that costs their trust, and it would usually be our mistake, not theirs.
No score out of 100.
Fit comes back in bands with the reasoning. A number teaches you to chase the number, and it implies a precision nobody has. Formatting checks report what they are: named, countable problems in the file.
We only state company facts we actually found.
Interview prep runs a live web search and works from what it returns. A client repeating an invented detail in a real interview is the worst thing this software could do to someone.
Your mock interview video never leaves your browser.
Only the transcript is sent. There's no recording of you stored on our servers, because there's no version of that we'd want to be responsible for.
We email you before your first renewal charge.
Not after. The renewal terms sit next to the price on the pricing card, not in a footnote, and cancelling is two clicks in your account. This category has a reputation and we'd rather not share it.
No invented statistics.
Every number on this site is either TopStack's, attributed as TopStack's, or a fact about a file. There are no stock testimonials, no borrowed customer logos and no "verified" badges we made up.
Who runs it
TopStack Resume is owner-operated out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The writing staff — over a hundred writers, recruiters, HR professionals and career coaches, including Certified Professional Résumé Writers — is the same group whose standards the software follows. They still write resumes by hand for TopStack clients; that work is what keeps the rulebooks current rather than frozen at launch.
