Resume.co Review

An honest look at Resume.co’s pricing and templates, and what ResumeFox does differently.

Pricing

What each one actually costs over twelve months

The two run on different cadences, so the honest comparison is what a year actually costs. Resume.co has no annual or quarterly plan at all: it is $1.95 for 7 days, then $29.95 every month, indefinitely, which comes to about $361 a year. ResumeFox is one plan, 7 days free then $79 a month, $948 over twelve months, and that price buys the same resume work plus a career professional you can write to. Read the two cards as what they are, a builder subscription and tools with a person included.

Built on real resume-writing experience
Where the writing standards come from
A phrase library isn’t the same as someone who has actually done this.
No. AI suggestions over a phrase library; no writers or a body of hand-written resumes are named anywhere on the site
Yes. Standards drawn from 80,000+ resumes written by hand by 100+ CPRW-certified US writers and recruiters
Rewrites the resume you already have
Not importing it: rewriting it.
Partly. An "Improve my resume with AI" option edits an uploaded resume with AI suggestions; unclear if it rebuilds full sections or only suggests phrasing
Yes. Upload it and the AI rebuilds it section by section, against the same standards above
ATS readability check
What actually gets checked, not just a number.
Partly. Free "ATS Resume Checker" leads with a real-time numeric score across 20+ criteria, plus a keyword list and suggestions
Yes. 12 named problems checked against real parsing behavior, not a score out of 100
Templates that actually parse
Templates with sidebars, photos or skill graphics
The three things that break a parse.
Partly. At least one template ("Fusion") uses a full-height shaded two-column sidebar for contact info and skills; no photo slot was found in the gallery
Yes. None. No sidebar, no photo, no skills chart, anywhere
Number of templates
Choice for its own sake is cheap.
Partly. 17 named designs in its gallery (page title says "11+"); a separate page advertises "200+," likely per-job-title variants of the same designs
Partly. 10 designs plus a US federal layout
Targeting the job, not just building the resume
Tailoring to a specific job posting
One resume per application, without rebuilding it.
Partly. "Tailor your resume for jobs" rewrites it with AI guidance; unclear whether your original master resume is kept separate
Yes. Targeted version per posting; master resume stays untouched, every change reported
Cover letter for that same posting
Written from the posting and the tailored resume together.
Yes. Its cover letter generator analyzes the language of a real job posting to draft a matching letter
Yes. Drafted from the posting and your targeted resume, with the reasoning behind it shown
Job search read against your resume
Matching, not a job board embed.
Partly. A "Find matching jobs" tile in the builder; no separate job board page was reachable when checked (its listed URLs redirected to the homepage)
Yes. Live postings from the major boards, with a fit check against your master resume; a stretch role is labeled a reach
Interview preparation
Company-specific, or a tips article.
No. No interview-preparation tool found on the site
Yes. Prep built from live research on the company and role, plus a browser mock interview; video never leaves your machine
LinkedIn optimization
Recruiter search terms differ from parser terms.
No. A page of LinkedIn advice articles and example headlines; no tool rewrites your actual profile
Yes. Headline, About and experience rewritten from your master resume
Application tracker
One record per job, everything hanging off it.
No. No application tracker found on the site
Yes. An application tracker with one record per job, linking the targeted resume, cover letter, prep and offer notes
Billing and support
What it renews at
The number nobody puts in headline size.
No. $29.95 every month (≈$359/year), with no annual or quarterly option at all
Partly. $79 a month after the 7 free days, with the coach included. Nothing is charged during the trial, and you can cancel anytime from your account
Support
Partly. Email and a Help Center ticketing system; no phone number found
Yes. A career coach of your own, a career professional in the US from TopStack.com, included: unlimited written messages, and $20 for a 30-minute phone call

A half-filled circle means the feature exists but with a real limitation, described in the cell.

Templates & ATS

More templates is not the same as more good templates

A large share of the designs these builders promote use two columns, a headshot slot, or skills drawn as dots and bars. Those choices are the reason a resume arrives shredded: the sidebar gets read straight across into the middle of your job history, and a skills graphic says nothing once the picture is gone.

ResumeFox ships 10 templates plus a US federal layout. Not one has a sidebar, a photo or a chart. They differ in typography and emphasis, never in whether they parse.

What each one is genuinely good and bad at

Resume.co
4.7★ / 13.8k+
Job Flow LLC

A cheap, fast entry point with unlimited AI tailoring and a real posting-aware cover letter generator bundled into a single paid plan, undercut by a free plan whose own help pages admit it cannot download a file, and no annual pricing option.

Strengths
  • Cheapest entry price of any builder reviewed on this site: $1.95 for 7 days
  • Unlimited AI resume tailoring and an AI cover letter generator on the one paid plan
  • Large, well-established review base: 4.7 from 13,800+ Trustpilot reviews
  • A "Find matching jobs" feature built into the resume builder
Watch out for
  • No free download in any format, plain text included, despite the free plan listing "unlimited downloads"
  • No annual or quarterly plan; $29.95 every month with no discount for committing longer
  • At least one flagship template uses a shaded two-column sidebar
  • No application tracker, interview prep, or LinkedIn optimization tool found on the site

TopStack Resume · US writers, founded 2018

Built by a resume-writing firm rather than a template shop, and sold as one plan with a career coach included. The standards come from real work, not a phrase library, and the plan covers the whole job search: a person to ask, tailoring, tracking and sourcing, not just the document.

Strengths
  • A career coach of your own, a career professional in the US from TopStack.com, with unlimited written messages and a $20 30-minute call whenever you want one
  • Standards drawn from 80,000+ hand-written resumes by 100+ CPRW-certified US writers and recruiters
  • Built around targeting: per-posting tailoring, a matching cover letter, job sourcing, interview prep, LinkedIn and an application tracker
  • 6 month job offer guarantee: If you have paid for our service for 6 consecutive months, and you have not received a job offer, we'll continue to work with you for 6 additional months at no cost.
Watch out for
  • $79 a month, several times what a builder subscription costs
  • 10 templates, not hundreds, deliberately, but it is fewer
  • Coaching is written messages; a 30-minute phone call is a $20 add-on rather than part of the price
  • One plan, month to month: no cheaper tier and no prepay-for-a-year price

FAQ

Questions people ask before they pick one

Still stuck? Email a human: someone answers, usually within one business day.

Is Resume.co legit?

Yes. It is operated by Job Flow LLC and carries a 4.7 rating from over 13,800 Trustpilot reviews. That does not mean every feature works the way its pricing page implies: its free plan lists "unlimited downloads," but its own Help Center says PDF downloads and premium templates require a paid plan, and the free plan can only generate a shareable link.

How much does Resume.co cost?

A 7-day trial costs $1.95. After that it renews at $29.95 every month, with cancel-anytime billing. There is no annual or quarterly plan; monthly is the only recurring option on its pricing page.

Does Resume.co use real resume writers?

No individual writers or a stated volume of hand-written resumes are credited anywhere on the site. Its resume builder and AI tailoring run on AI suggestions over a phrase library. ResumeFox is built by TopStack Resume, a US career-services firm, on standards drawn from more than 80,000 resumes written by hand by over 100 CPRW-certified writers and recruiters.

Is ResumeFox cheaper than Resume.co?

No, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Resume.co is $1.95 for 7 days then $29.95 every month, about $361 over a year. ResumeFox is one plan, 7 days free then $79 a month, which is $948 over twelve months. What that price buys is a career coach of your own, a career professional in the US from TopStack.com with unlimited written messages, alongside the resume rebuild, per-posting tailoring, a matching cover letter, job sourcing, interview prep, LinkedIn guidance, offer negotiation, the application tracker and the 6 month job offer guarantee.

Can I download a resume for free from Resume.co?

Based on Resume.co’s own Help Center, no. Downloading as PDF requires a paid plan, and the free plan is described as generating a shareable link rather than a file. No free plain-text export was found. At ResumeFox, Word, PDF and plain text downloads are all included in the plan, and the free ATS check at /ats-check needs no account at all.

Does Resume.co have an ATS checker?

Yes, a free one at resume.co/ats-resume-checker, no account required. It leads with a real-time numeric score across more than 20 criteria, plus a keyword-gap list and formatting suggestions. ResumeFox’s ATS check names 12 specific problems in your file rather than giving you a score.

Does Resume.co tailor a resume to a specific job posting?

Its pricing page lists "unlimited AI-tailoring for any job," and its builder includes a "Tailor your resume for jobs" tool. It was not possible to confirm without a paid account whether this keeps your original resume saved separately or edits it in place. ResumeFox creates a separate targeted version per posting and leaves your master resume untouched, reporting every change it made.

What happens if I don’t like it?

Resume.co offers a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund on payments made within the last 90 days, per its own Help Center. ResumeFox charges nothing during its 7 free days, so cancelling inside them costs you nothing, and you can cancel anytime from your account. After that, the 6 month job offer guarantee applies: If you have paid for our service for 6 consecutive months, and you have not received a job offer, we'll continue to work with you for 6 additional months at no cost. Read the exact terms on each checkout page before paying.

How we compared these

Pricing is read from each provider's own checkout or pricing page. Feature claims are checked against each product's live interface. Where we could not confirm something ourselves, it is not on this page.

Where numbers disagree

Entry prices in this category differ across landing pages and promotions. Where that happens we give the observed range rather than one figure, and say so.

Our disclosure

This page is published by ResumeFox, one of the products compared. We have an obvious interest in your choosing it. That is why every claim about a competitor is one you can check on their own site, and why we name the rows they win.
